CAPTAIN TONY BUFFA FISHING CHARTERS
Fishing Report #25 11/11/07
Hello all you catchers, catchettes, and wannabes: Time for yet another fall update. Right now you can "have it your way" on Oneida...troll or jig by day, cast the sticks by night. The water temp. plummeted to 49 degrees Fahrenheit in two days and triggered the recent bite. On Sat., Nov. 10, John Chilinski, High Noon Chess Champion, Syr., NY and Ed Ryder, B'ville, NY spent a very productive afternoon with me on Oneida. We easily caught our limit of walleyes well before dark, jigging in 21 to 14 feet off Lewis Pt. The Bass Pro Shops, Lazer Blade 1/2 oz. gold and the Mad River Sports perch and fire tiger sonar were all we needed to entice the full limit of nine walleyes and a dozen jumbo perch to the boat. We easily boated 20 walleyes to keep our legal limit of nine. Ed had the biggest at 20 1/8 inches. The two lures are in the foreground of the photo. These fish are full of 2 to 2 1/2 inch yellow perch and are on the big feed to prepare for the winter chill.
On Sun., Nov. 11, upon arriving at Fremac's Waterfront Marina where I dock "MY GAL CAL II" to prepare for my afternoon charter, Captain Mike Conroy, Caz., NY and Mike Lynch , East. Syr. just returned dockside with a very respectable limit of "eyes". They prefer to troll... and with success I may add! Reef Runners, and deep diving Shadraps fished with the drop weight system in 22 feet trolled at 1.8 to 2.1 mph was the right formula to solve the walleye enigma.
When Bruce Majer, Tom Piacitelli, Al Lurty and Joe Nozek drove up from PA. on Sunday, Nov. 11, to fish with me, they had no idea what awaited them. Walleyes proved to be the perfect host by welcoming our visitors from the south with their limit and mine. Again it was the sonar fished in a jigging mode in 22 to 14 feet off Lewis Point. I can't imagine the fishing to get much better than this....imagine a midday bite during high sun! Now that's a change from the norm. These fish are hungry and on the big fall feed.
Another week of warmer than normal weather on the way and I'll be on the water Tues., Wed., and Sun. I do have Thurs. and Sat. available for charters. If you're interested in some excellent day time jigging I can be reached either by email or phone (315) 427-2278.
How about some "eye to "eye" contact,
cap'n tony
