CAPTAIN TONY BUFFA FISHING CHARTERS
Fishing Report #19 09/12/08
A long overdue hello to all my fish'n frenz:
My last fishing report (8/29/08)
highlighted salmon. Well here comes more of the same. Salmon
have made a strong showing during the last week of August
and first week of September. No need to travel to the
depths. We are finding most of our catch from 120 feet into
60 feet. One day they are Oswego oriented, the next day they
are playing in the current at Nine Mile Pt. The usual fare
of attractors:
Smart Fish, E-chips, Spin Doctors dressed with A-TOM-MIK Glo
Hammer, Big Fin Glo, Mirage, and Hypnotist flies will
stimulate these staged salmon to bite. Here are a few
catches of late.
Jerry Leone, Rochester, NY, Corey McDowell, Illion, NY, John Brusa, Solvay, NY, Stephen Klemann, Watkins Glen, NY and Tim Bolan, Lafayette, NY all engineers with Casella or Barton and Loguidice put their angling skills on the line with this impressive catch of king salmon. Ten for thirteen was the final count. You can watch the action at my account on YouTube by clicking this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN-Iu0NMKnI .
Here's another good catch of seven kings and one brown. Mark Woody, Clarence White, Bob Harriot, and Bob White all from Canastota tallied an eight for eleven score during a morning run. Bob's brown trout is one among many over 10 lbs. that have bounced on the Bandito III.
Dom and Tammy Maio, Constantia, NY and friends Eugene and Nina White visiting from Florida, could barely lift this rack of hefty kings. Who says you need to get up early in the morning to catch fish? This is the result of a leisurely afternoon outing. Dom an avid and well known local BASS tournament fisherman gave the largemouth and smallmouth a short respite while in pursuit of kings.
Rick Rozhon, Chris
Schwartz, Dr. Bo Willis and Milton alias Flomax Brill all
neighbors at Long
Point on Oneida Lake, Brewerton, NY, also had a productive
afternoon. Milt got his nickname as a consequence of that
mug you see balanced on the center of the fish rack. While
he was fighting his 14 lb. steelhead he needed a libation
break. That steelhead is an example of what we refer to as a
"chromer"!
I intend to remain on Lake Ontario
through the remainder of September and then of
course begins the Oneida nightcast so if you need either a
lake Ontario or Oneida outing call now, especially for
Oneida since I am filling up fo both October and November.
Until next tide,
cap'n tony
