CAPTAIN TONY BUFFA FISHING CHARTERS
Fishing Report #14 07/24/08
Hello Fishing Fraternity and Sorority: Yet another among the many fishy tales of Lake Ontario trout and salmon pursuits! This is perhaps the most festive time to be at Oswego with all the activity associated with HarborFest and it will all culminate with a spectacular fireworks display on Sat. evening. Well, if you will allow the analogy the fishing out of Oswego harbor has been providing its own exciting display of fire works. Trout and Salmon are coming together with perfect synergy to entertain our clients on a daily basis. The browns have been near shore in 50 feet and the salmon have not been far off at 200 to 300 feet. Local cardiologist Reid Muller, Cazenovia and fellow National Guardsmen, Hugh McGee, Ben Antonecchia, and Bob Graham an ophthalmologist, dentist and logistics expert took some time off to pursue lake Ontario king salmon. Their catch of four kings had weights of 20 lbs. up to 28 lbs. Bob's the biggest at 28 lbs came on a copper application with a green metallic Smart Fish in tandem with an A-TOM-MIK TG fly fished 450 feet behind the boat. This group fished two days and also got a taste of the quality brown trout fishing. Here are the images taken from my Lowrance LCX 113 Broadband Sounder while we were catching the browns.
This is what I call a full house. Three married couples who have celebrated their, 25th., 27th., and 57th., wedding anniversaries. Ken and Bess Weston, Nancy and Larry Conley, and Joanne and Bill Weston all of B'ville, NY had a memorable Wednesday morning on Lake Ontario. They boated 6 browns, 1 bass and two king salmon to keep the morning replete with "reel" action. Larry a local Physician Assistant is a former math. student of mine from 38 years ago.
Alan Peters from Lake Huron while passing through Oswego couldn't resist the opportunity to try for Ontario's prized salmon. He wasn't disappointed. This 23 lb. king took a cutbait fished behind a Mountain Dew Smart Fish.
Steve Aiello, Fayetteville, president of the COR Cos. and gubernatorial board of Trustee appointee at OCC with his wife Lori, son Tommy, cousin Patti Sacco and friend Neil spent Wednesday afternoon on Lake Ontario trolling for browns and salmon. Their 20 lb. king took a silver ProTroll E-chip with a Green Krinkle Mad River Sports Fly fished on a wire Dipsy at 240 feet. After the salmon's initial run, Neil had to reel in 540 feet of wire line.
