Fishing Report #2

02/25/10

Hello again all my fishing frenzies:

Just another six weeks and we should be trolling for Lake Ontario browns. In the meantime I have been conducting my winter seminars at Bass Pro Shops in Auburn, NY. I have already completed presentations on browns and salmon. This Saturday, Feb. 27 from 11:00 A.M.- 12:30 P.M. I am scheduled to demonstrate the latest in sonar imaging by Lowrance. My demo will include the High Definition Systems (HDS-10) with Structure Scan. If you are in the market to upgrade your fish finder this is a must see. Structure Scan capability is proprietary to the HDS series and the imagery is just short of having video of the bottom as far as 285 feet port and starboard. Here is a photo of the HDS-10 at work on the Bandito III at Oswego. The map you see at the left of the screen is my GPS tracking with Sirius Satellite Weather overlay. You can see the rain on my windshield and if you look carefully at the chart the rain covers the eastern end of Lake Ontario and extends west to Sodus. The rain is the slight green shading and the absence of red jagged arrows tells me there is no history of lightning in this rain storm. On the right side of the screen is the fishfinder mode showing the position of my downrigger weights at 43, 48 and 60 feet. The 140 in the upper left is the bottom depth, surface temp. is 73.5 and the small numbers in the lower left indicate 50 kHz transducer frequency with 3x zoom between 27.4 and 77.4 feet. THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEM IS MISSING...there were no fish targets under the boat in this sequence. The fishfinder view that you are looking at is not the Structure Scan mode. I will be adding that as a new capability for the 2010 season. I will however be presenting it at the seminar.

Asian Carp are currently a major threat to the Great lakes ecosystem and fisheries. If you all would take a few seconds to join me in signing the following petition I would be greatly appreciative. The lake you save might be your own! http://stopasiancarp.com/.

On Sat. March 6 and 13, I will be conducting my Oneida lake walleye seminars again at Bass Pro Shops from 11:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. It is my intent to cover the strategies and tactics to get you through the entire walleye season. I will leave you with a couple photos to peek your interest.

Claude Incaudo, Oneida lake devotee, Otisco, NY and Jim Sollecito, local award winning landscaper and travelled fishermen just enjoying time and friendship on the water.

Paul Pelletier, Syracuse, NY, Father Lou Aiello with the Syracuse, diocese his brother Steve Aiello, president of COR and Mark Pelletier, Fayetteville, NY with their catch of September Chinook salmon at Oswego on board the Bandito III.

It's not too soon to plan your fishing outings for 2010. Many have already chosen their dates. If you are contemplating an outing be sure to get to me ASAP.

May the FISH be with you,
