CAPTAIN TONY BUFFA FISHING CHARTERS
Fishing Report #1 02/09/10
Hello all my fishnoids and noidettes: A belated happy 2010 to you all and a fishful season on the water. I was able to once again make it to Thanksgiving week 2009 to close out the charter season. Although the nightcast for walleyes started with a fury in mid-October it did provide its challenges through November. For every good night we seemed to have a few tough ones in the mix. Patrick McNamara, Dewitt, NY a senior at Bentley did manage to cast his way to a limit of eyes during the Thanksgiving break. These were bulked up walleyes looking for an extra meal and Patrick happened to be the server that evening. His biggest was 22 inches. Those are two Jr. Thundersticks at the left and right of the photo.
Now here are four hombres who really know how to have a good time. Lifetime buddies, Dick Donofrio, Dick Williams, Al Emmi all from Auburn, NY and Leon (Matty) Matthews from Skaneateles. They worked hard for these six walleyes and a few perch but loved every minute of the effort. Word has it that these guys were Auburn's version of the "four horsemen".
In anticipation of the 2010 open water season I am once again offering my fishing seminars at Bass Pro Shops in Auburn, NY. Here is the schedule of my five presentations. Seminars begin at 11:00 A.M. and end at 12:30 P.M. 1. Lake Ontario (Spring and Summer Browns) Sat., Feb. 13, 11:00 A.M.- 12:30 P.M. 2. In addition to these I am speaking about Oneida Lake Walleye Fishing at the Central NY Boat Show at the Fairgrounds in the Toyota Building at the Fremac Exhibit on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 P.M. Yes, it is time again to think "fishing" and a good number of my loyal clients have already chosen their dates for 2010. So if you are contemplating an outing for this year it's never too early to call. Since my topic on Sat., Feb. 13 will be on Lake Ontario browns I thought it would be fitting to leave you with one more photo as a reminder of how much fun we have trolling and cajoling. Here is Sam Tiller, West Monroe with a hawg summer brown, caught on a "Chicken Wing" Michigan Stinger.
A very special thank you to all those who chartered in 2009 and hope to float in 2010.
Fishfully yours,
cap'n tony
