CAPTAIN TONY BUFFA FISHING CHARTERS
Fishing Report #1 01/16/08
To all my fishing frenz on both sides of the pond a Happy New 2008 fishing season! Well, we closed the 2007 walleye season on Oneida in stellar fashion. Thanksgiving week offered moderate weather and spectacular walleye fishing albeit by day or by night. Again it was upper South Bay which played host to a very cooperative school of feeding walleyes holed up in 22 to 12 feet between Lewis Point and Oneida Creek. Jigging, particularly with Bass Pro Shops 1/2 and 1/4 oz. Lazer Blade in either the gold or perch pattern kept us on target and in fish up to our and their "eyes". Here is a peek at a few of our last outings. Stephen Peltz, Skaneateles, NY and a student-athlete at Bentley invited his friend Joe Mecca, Ridgewood, NJ to an evening of nightcast on Oneida. Stickbaits, as in the chartreuse Jr. Thunderstick and Bass Pro Shops Lazer Eye Nitro Suspend Minnow blue/chrome were all we needed to boat their limit and mine during a frenetic 35 minute bite.
By day the fishing was just as good... brothers, Tom and Mark Randis from Hazelton PA., and father and son, Capt. Leo Godin Jr. and Leo Godin Sr. from Albany, NY and I boated the full limit of 15 walleyes jigging with the Lazer Blades and Mad River Sports Sonars in the gold and perch finishes. You can see the 1/2 oz. Lazer Blades in gold holographic in the picture foreground.
On Sunday, Nov. 25 we would embark on our last outing of the 2007 season. Jim Goodman, Liverpool, NY and Capt. Paul Nagle, Marcellus, NY and I once again found the walleyes in the same hole, in the same mood, responding to the same toys and techniques. Another full limit and a very satisfying outing to close the season.
A very big thanks to all who fished with me in 2007 and to those who will in 2008. In anticipation of the forth coming season, I will once again be very active with my seminars at Bass Pro Shops, the Northeastern Sport Show and CNY Boat Show.
